As I sit here editing footage…
I realize we haven’t updated our website in a while. We had posted that we have so many, many plans for the New Year. As you can imagine, plans change.
What we are doing now.
Right now, we are SO EXCITED to be nearing the All Native Basketball Tournament! The Lax kw’alaams dance groups will be meeting in Prince Rupert to perform the Opening ceremony. Although we were not successful in our bid to fund this documentary, we really wanted to go ahead with it. Cultural performances are so powerful, and to be part of the process has been amazing. I hope you are looking forward to this as much as we are!!
We are working with a local musician.
If all goes according to plan, you will hear more about this in the near future. I have to say I really enjoyed his original music and lyrics.
We have been contacted in regards to a new project possibility.
Although I cannot share the details of the project, it’s sounds very intriguing.
Hobiyee 2019 “Honouring Our Future Generation” Gingolx
We plan to go to Hobiyee in Gingolx to get some amazing photos and footage. According to the tentative schedule, there will be 10 dance groups including the Gitmaxmak’ay Nisga’a dance group, which come from Prince Rupert/Port Ed. Also in the schedule, the Amago’ot Gyetm Maaxii Tsmshian dance group from Prince Rupert.
And back to the original reason for this post…
Right now I am editing footage of an interview we did with a Haida elder in November 2017. He shared so much with us but we had restrictions in what we could do at the time.
Next Update from me: February 18th
